I mean after 50 years and $150 billion in cash aid, not counting military eqpt, loan guarantees, and other things, like FREE oil, shouldn't Israel be able to care for herself?
Perhaps she could take all the goods and money she has taken from Palestinians and use that.

The really sad thing is that the American taxpayer doesnt have a clue or is never told just how much aid is given Israel. If given a chance, how many US taxpayers would dole out money to those jews in Israel while they bomb innocent kids and old women in Lebanon.
Israel is not the victim here. For every rocket fired from Gaza, for every suicide bomb blasted in the marketplace, fifty Palestinians are beaten, jailed, their houses destroyed.
Do the math. Why do we support this?

Now to the point. the US has by an estimate made by Christian Science Monitor, given Israel or have been cost by Israel, over ONE TRILLION dollars since 1948. $150 in direct aid. Billions in military services. Billions of cost from the Arab oil embargo of 1973 for our idiotic and blind support of Israel in the Egyptian war, which Israel LOST.
Israel needs to be cut loose and sink or swim.

Not a paid Israel poster, but it's obvious you might be asking the question from not exactly a neutral point of view. As for all the things we give Israel, and yes, it is a lot. It goes to the simple fact that they are our only ally in an unstable region. They are the only democracy, so it behooves us to make sure they are successful, economically, politically, and militarily. Sorry to tell you this, but radical muslims don't exactly share the same views on life that we in the U.S. do.
p.s. Palestine was and still is a sh--t hole, there isn't anything of value that the israelis can take.

Israel does not feel that the US should protect them. Just like the US we do rely on our allies for times of war. And Israel is not the only one getting cash aid from America. You will find that some of the countries that have come up against Israel also recieve aid from us.

Its easier to maintain an economy and a government when you're not continually being bombarded with unprovoked attacks from your neighbors. When so many other nations want nothing more than to see the destruction of your country and its people then you have to have friends to back you up.

- Precedence - you said yourself we've been doing it for 50 years
- U.S. is a super-power with lots of $. That is the view many 3rd world countries and countries outside of western Europe have.
