Do those vaccum bags/space saver bags really work? Anyone use them on long trips. Any specific brands that work better then others? Pros and cons, please.

They work very well. One con, they are so good that your luggage actually gets too heavy. Also, you can use the zip lock freezer type bags for smaller items.

Just use the big ziplock and put a rubberband on your vacum cleaner hose to seal & to suck the air out to flatten them. They aren't worth the money imho for the more expensive ones, I have never had them last the whole trip. The lil plastic slide always breaks off and you end up screwed with a big fluffy parka wearing it onto the plane like the pillsburydoughboy.

I use them all of the time and they work great. I also use them to ship things overseas, this allows me to ship in smaller boxes.

I bought mine at Costco a few years back, and I love them.
