People tell me I don't have to like the president, but I have to respect the office he holds, and I'm just wondering if the same people who claim that, respected that same office when Clinton held it? Or maybe Clinton didn't need help with people supporting him?

bored, so much wrong with what you said, I don't know where to begin. So I'll stick with the question I asked, and assume your answer to be "No, I didn't respect CLinton as president, but don't say anything bad about Bush". Bush's greatest failures are yet to be seen...

What I remember from those days is Henry Hyde saying we should get to see all the government reports that we paid for.

But Bushie seems to get to keep all his documents secret. I don't buy the National Security argument in every case.

That is the point we conservatives make ALL the time. I couldn't stand Clinton.....I felt that he did NOTHING for this country - but at the same time, I would not have condoned the kind of behavior against him that has been exhibited towards Bush.

You hear things from people that actually feel he and members of his family should be killed - there are movies about it! When Clinton was in office you did not see bumper stickers with his face crossed out or claims that he is not your president....and I guarantee you that there were PLENTY of us that felt that way. However, conservatives do not always feel that just because it is their opinion that everybody else should have it forced down their throats!

It is frightening to see people in a country be so disrespectful. Pure hatred for your president (who is not the only one making decisions in Washington) is the same as pure hatred for your country.

What is more is that there are people that are SO obsessed (like KooKoo Bananas) that Bush-bashing is ALL they do......it has gotten REALLY old.

Clinton didnt need help supporting him. It was the public that supported him. The Republican Senate and House both worked equally in tearing down the respect of that office. Never before has there been an active participation of a party to discredit the president and the office. These past 2 elections have proven that out. It goes to show how desperate a group of people can be to obtain power. Many people saw the Democrats as weak because they didnt fight back against those attacks. Thats just not so. For them to have fought back wouldve taken them down to thier opponents level. They were trying to retain some dignity and hoped the public saw it for what it was, a propaganda smear campaign. The thing that sticks out in my mind was when in the last election they attacked Kerrys war record and medals. To be fair I wasnt for Kerry but it was the caniving cowerdness behind the attack that sickened me. That was just plain wrong. Every single military person who could tear down a fellow brother in arms like that should hang thier head in shame. Kerry didnt award himself those medals, he earned them. If they we're going to attack one mans honor then we need to look back at all medal recipients and judge if they were brave enough. What a dark day in politics that was. It shows the point Im making. The Republicans were willing to go to any length to take the White House and power. It concerns me that politics have stooped this low and worse, the public allowed it. The real kicker is that most of them probably didnt even vote!

The challenges and opportunities of the Office of President of the United States of America can give rise to the notion of the "office making the man or someday the woman". Never the other way around.

Some who have held this office have risen to its lofty height. Most have not.

Have fun but be safe!

I respected Clinton until he did:
1. Left our troops in Somalia high and dry.
2. Placed our troops in Somalia under a forgien commander (First time ever)
3. Did nothing about the first WTC attacks.
4. Did nothing about our emabassies being bomned in Africa.
5. Did nothing about the USS Cole
6. Allowed his wife to maintain an office in the West wing (Only one to do so)
7. Lied about his drug abuse.
8. Lied under oath to a Grand Jury.
9. Lied to the Public about his transgressions.
10. Stated they had 8 months to catch Bin Laden, I had 8 years atleast, I tried.

I have a thousand more reasons why he disgraced our country by his presidentcy. Bush may have made mistakes but all of his statements and policies have been made from the knowledge of the time. Clinton flat out didn't give a damn about us!

And yes prominent Dems suppported Bush in going to Iraq!

I think you hit the nail on the head. Clinton's lowest poll numbers were about where Bush's have been the past year+.

You should ALWAYS respect the Office of the President, but not everybody does, including those who don't like the leader.

I don't think those who are currently saying this haven't exactly been good roll models, since they tried to impeach a President for screwing up his personal life.

Those who are now in power can dish it, but they can't take it, as is now apparent.

I RESPECT the position and the OFFICE and the job. Yet I did NOT respect the MAN. Clinton was the most corrupt president this country has ever had.

I think that most politicians respect the office of the presidency.

However, they sometimes become confused about their own purpose as politicians. They sometimes become so enamored with the office they hold and the ego gratification which results that they will resort to almost anything to remain on or become a member of the winning team.

Clinton's lying and philandering did not rise to the level of impeachable offenses.

Yes, I did.

He did not.

I voted for him each time, but he convinced me I was in the wrong party.

Seems like he convinced a lot of other Americans to switch too.

He's trying to rewrite history, but his military adventures DID have bipartisam support.

Will I now be called "Clinton-obsessed," even though I didn't bring it up?

Slick Willy's legacy of attempted rape, groping women, sexual abuse, inserting "Cigars" in the vagina of a 20 year old intern, Monica Lewinsky, in the Oval office no less, conducting Policy by Polls, wading through scandal after scandal chest deep in shame, leaving him no other alternative but to "Wag The Dog" ... what's to respect?

His legacy, no matter how much money he raises for charity is one of shame.

As a Draft-Dodger, he cut the military and demoralized our Fighting Forces, he decimated the CIA and FBI and laid the ground work for Islamic terror to take root. He did "nothing:" after the WTC bombing turning it over to local law enforcement ... and he's indignant ??????????!!!!!!!!!

His legacy is shame and the Democrats with Howard Dean as their sage leader and Jimmy Carter showing advance stages of Dementia who loves Hugo Chavez...is the beginning of the absolute end of their Party's chances in the next Elections!

Who would want to vote for Morons or mentally unbalanced individuals to lead their country and preserve their Rights? Only Bigger Morons, Liberals, Lesbians, Gays and Far Left Wing ACLU Adoring Dems!
