I recently moved to New Jersey with my boyfriend of 1 year. I love him more than I have ever loved anyone before, and we have planned on spending the rest of our loves together. I just moved away from home and I miss my home and my family more than anything. I hate New Jersey! I am not happy here and I find myself depressed sometimes because i want to go home. He is here because he works in the city and he wants to make something of himself. He has a career and he is trying to get settled and make some money for his / our future. I am trying to be considerate. I couldn't imagine him here all by himself, I want him to move back to our old home! He said that he has no idea when or if he will ever go back. I want to be close to my family. What should I do? Stand by my man or go home where I am happy and be with my family?

Been there, done that! I lived in Texas for 6 years and thought I was going to lose my ever-loving mind! I hauled a*s back to New Jersey the state that you hate! The way I was able to get back to my home is because my husband died! I loved him but he was a Southerner and he did not want to come to New Jersey. Well he back here anyway, because I cremated him and brought him back. Hell he didn't have any other family members! I wasn't going to bury him down there and have no one look after his grave site. He's resting comfortably in my Den. I bet you're from the South or Mid-West! Girl go on home! I know how you feel. Especially with your family member being so far from you. You're probably not use to the weather, the people, the food. Just everything! I don't know what else to tell you. You 2 are going to have to compromise and that the nut in the shell!

Here's a question for you....He moved to New Jersey to further his career, set his future and life and never wants to return.

You followed him and are unhappy and depressed....

Is he looking at other options? Does he know your not happy? He sure seems to be doing a lot for his future. What about yours? If you are not happy where you live, I'm sorry but you will never be happy in general. Why don't yo consider your future for a while, move home temporarily and see what happens.

Stand by your man makes a nice song, but he needs to stand by you too. He may claim he's doing it for both of you, but if he's the only one who enjoys his decision, he did it for himself. That's not to say he doesn't love you, but you need to make yourself happy if he wont.

You need to think long and hard about your future. Has he asked you to marry him yet. Please don't say he's waiting to afford it, that is a put off line. I don't think either decision you make has to be permanent. You can stay and leave any time you can't take it anymore, or go home and run back to Jersey if you miss him too much.

If you love him so much, this shouldn't be a question.

All relationships are hard work, even good ones.

Keep in touch by phone and email etc.... with your family. And try to find things you like in Jersey. It is pretty much like anywhere else in the country. It does have its good and bad points. Start looking for the good.

Tough questions. Let me ask you this...are you guys going to get married? When? What kind of commitment are you guys willing to make for eachother?

I suppose if your gay, marriage is not an option.
