We were set an English/Creative Writing assignment today. For the month of October all the guys have to keep a diary from the perspective of a girl, and all the girls have to write a journal entry each day like they were guys. We have to make up a name for our alias and then write about their life through their eyes (at least 1 page per day as a minimum). We may get called on at random to read what we have written for the last week too. The teacher said it's all about making us seeing things from different perspectives and stuff.

So I need to come up with a girl name and then write something each day about "her" life, like she really is a girl writing in her diary.

Any suggestions for names and what I should write about. What do girls write in their diaries anyway?

Lynn is one of those names that can be used for a boy or a girl.

One of the things to keep in mind is that girls are more open to emotion that guys normally are. They take a more general view of things as opposed to guys (we tend to focus on getting ot the goal instead what's going on around us). It has been said (and I tend to agree) that women need to speak 20,000 words a day and us guys only about 10,000. I know my attention span doesn't go to 20,000 words and that gets me in trouble sometimes. Women often write like they speak. Most times when trying to listen to my sister, she covers sixteen subjects on her way to what she really wanted to talk about. Don't try to focus, you'll get too tired.

Don't be like Joe Friday and just get the Facts. Be more like Dear Abby and "wake up and smell the coffee". Pay attention to the little things and the emotions involved. Don't be afraid to make running comments and get side tracked. Avoid the straight and narrow perspective. It's a journey to get somewhere, not a race<< except to the guys... everything to guys is a competition>>.

Don't be afraid to embarrass yourself or make stereotypical comments at the beginning. You are not in familiar territory. That's also why you're there to learn about each other.

Yes men are from Mars and women are from Venus (and if my sister or wife sees this, my forwarding address may be the doghouse.) ;-)

Best of Luck.

What is your name? Use something similar. If your name is Ken, use Kendra. Jim, use Jamie.

Do you have any sisters? If not you may need your mother's help. Write daily about what you are going to wear and what you want to buy to wear. Talk about your hair and that you want a change. I don't know if you want to get into make-up, maybe that is going to far.

Use things that are going on in school. Football game coming up, talk about who you are going with, what you will wear, who you want to see there.

I would avoid talking about romantic relationships. Remember you may have to read this out loud in class.

Good luck to you.

I would pick Abby as the name. Young girls write about their friends, what going on in their home and here is the hard part BOYS! I LOVE this assignment!

If you should atleast have a couple of entries about :

-PMS
-Boys
-Friends
-Shopping/mall/clothes
-Parents

Remember girls are VERY VERY social creatures. They value social relationships as much as anything. Guy usually could care less.

Well, pretend you are a 16 year old girl named "Andrea" that loves Hilarry Duff and is in love with her classmate "Bob". She lives with her grandma because her father died 10 years ago and she never met her mom.

Something like that....

If it is to be a teenage girl, write about boys. be dramatic with your hormones- over analyse things such as 'is he talking to me/' 'is he looking at me?' And gossip and be mean about all the other girls who gossip and are mean to you or are generally prettier than you!
