You have to write down a number on a check...which number/digits is it, for both personal and business checks?

The bank routing number. It is under the check number. It is only used as a double check. Just make sure the amounts and totals are correct. Many banks don't even require a deposit slip when you use the ATM machine. I don't think I have used a deposit slip in 30 years.

You don't need to fill out that part of the deposit slip. Just put down the amount of each check and deposit, make sure you endorse the check ;-)
