I doubt he's afraid. Have you asked him if he would be more comfortable if you bought them off the net and had them shipped in an unmarked box? If he says that's fine, then he's probably just embarrassed.
By the way, what's your problem in buying condoms for him? It's kinda sexy if you do some tricks with them when you help them on your husband. It might help him get over his fears and may start liking them - if he's afraid, that is.

Many years ago when I grew up, the only way to purchase condoms was from a pharmacist. This was an embarrassing situation for a teenage boy. Perhaps something similar bothers your husband.

Men aren't afraid to buy condoms or ladies products. Or hold a ladies purse. All I have to say is it is about self image and embarrassing. Guys like to brag to all their friends that they are having sex but don't want the people at the drugstore to know. Go figure?
And let's just get right down to it. Many men want to have the fun without the inconvience of being responsible for protection. Men fret about us getting pregnant and want us to take the pill, take care of the contraceptive or get ourselves fixed.

WHat does he say about it? Maybe he is afraid of getting you pregnant and thinks that condoms are not good enough Birth Control. Is he afraid to go into the store? or afraid to use them?

CONDOMPHOBIA - anxiety about using condoms. No matter what the ads say "next to nothing", "the best", or whatever. There is no feeling like flesh meeting flesh.
If he's afraid to purchase them, then go the health clinic, adult store, or community clinic where they give them away free and most cases anomously.

Afraid or embarrassed? Probably he has some stigma attached to it maybe associated with a movie or his upbringing.
Most likely he's envisioning the clerk at the counter thinking, "What are you going do with these big boy..."

When I was 14-15 I was embarrassed about buying them also. Then I got to know the guy. Then a few years later I took his job. How ironic.

I am betting he isn't afraid, maybe embarrassed a little, but more likely he just doesn't like the way they feel and is saying he is afraid.

I guess he feels embarrased in the grocery aisle shopping for them. Kinda weird for a guy though, I think most of them could care less, and besides it shows everyone hey maybe this guy is gettin' some, lol.
