Liberals of the past fought for,
The freeing of slaves
Rights for women
Rights for workers
Freedom of religion

Liberals today fight for,
Abortion
Gayness for all, (Not just equality for gays but homosexuality as an alternative to "traditional" heterosexuality)
The destruction of religion (Except for Islam whom the liberals are terrified of)
Welfare for able bodied people

Seriously, stop equating yourself with the brave citizens of the past. In the future no one is going to bring up your accomplishments of today and say, "Those brave citizens of the early 2000's, why Billy, if it were not for them, abortions would not be available at every gas station."

What a legacy to have.

Or.... you can phrase the current battles as...

The right to be free from government regulation of pregnancy... someone is going to choose, it's either the individual or the govt.

The right to be free from gender-based discrimination in private relationships... and that is exactly a matter of true equality.

The right to be free from government imposed religious dogma... nobody is trying to outlaw religion. The only objection is the govt saying that they will support and approve and finance these particular religions and will require these other religions to hide.

Freedom from government oppression is not just a liberal agenda. It should be the agenda of everyone who respects the Constitution, and respects the right of individuals to make their own choices without the government enforcing religious morality.

Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

I think your first list is still pretty good. And many of us need to be freed from wage slavery, (rights for workers), with a strong labor movement which I guess you would oppose. Any freedom OF religion means freedom from ANY religion TOO, if that is one's choice, not just getting to choose which bible thumping church one might attend, as that might have been in the earliest years of the USA. Freedom to choose reproductive options is important to women. If you are female and reject abortions always, DON'T get one. The Constitution IS the USA, not what in the best case is its metaphor, the flag. But most of all the right to vote has been disregarded as never before in two of the past two major shamlections. My mantra is "COUNT EVERY VOTE, and be 100% sure every vote is counted." Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

That's like looking at liberalism with closed eyes.

I think that you can still look at the previous achievements of liberalism and apply them to modern thinking. You know, like coming up with new ideas, and respecting other people's points of view; rather than persecuting and setting up witch hunts.

Of course, you could just say that Republicans love torture and execution, hate anyone not white, hate anyone not rich, want to drag the country down in pointless wars.. ectera..

Actually, you are ALMOST right. Republicans are the ones who have fought against slavery, for women's rights, etc...not like the republicans of today...
FYI, a very conservative supreme court has upheld Roe for 30 years...
