According to history they were very curious and intrigued. There are accounts of Indians offering them food and jewels which only caused the invaders to want more.
When they saw their weapons they became really scared and entered a defensive mode.

they saw them as strong people.. possibly gods... thats the only reason the Spanish conquered them when there was 200 indian warriors for every 1 conquistador...
