whats the difference between the republicans and democratics, people have told me what they were and meant, but it just doesnt make any sense. explain it in friendly words. which is the better side?

A true democracy is a government ruled by the people. An example would be ancient Rome (or modern Italy).
A republic is headed by a governing body.
We are a democratic-republic. More people-voiced than a republic, less people-voiced than a democracy.
Republicans tend to think that a complete rule by the people leads to anarchy. We think the best government is the least government necessary. We believe a strong military is important to maintaining peace.
I'll leave it to the democrats to tell you what they believe.

Democratics tend to be better at compromise.
Republicans are better at principles.
Republicans will start a war because it is the right think to do.
Democrats will avoid starting a war because it is the right thing to do.
Democrats worry about the people who have no money.
Republicans worry about the people who provide jobs for people who have no money.
Both are idealistic but both are compromised by the requirements of politics.
Both lean towards the right wing more than most political parties in other countries.
Ironically smart democrats and smart republicans tend to agree on the bulk of items.
If you are talking about your decision for an individual you are better off considering the individuals merits rather than worrying about their part affiliation.
Now a plug for my personal agenda: The most important item on the world political scene right now should be global warming. Worse case scenario is the end of the human race in about 50-100 years time.

I'll tell you a funny thing:
Republic means ruled by people in Latin
Democracy means the same exact thing in Greek
Now you see what the difference is? :)))
