What is a good type of domincian republic cigar?

Its for my fiance's bday, and I know he said he preferred cigars from the dominican republic, but I have no idea where to start.

Most cigars sold in the USA are from the Dominican Republic. Cohiba is a bit strong, try Arturo Fuentes (distinctive flavor, medium body) Monte Cristo (nice balance, medium body), or Macanudo (very mild). Ask what his favorite shape is - usually cigar smokers like thick shorter cigar shapes called robusto.
