I have always wanted, to live entirely off the land, like ancients, is this possible/ legal in the US?

i mean is there a way to do this whilst being completly free of modern living, including currency,

It is entirely legal. You can do it on a farm. You can still homestead though the land available is bleak. You will be liable for property taxes still. Check out Good Neighbors of BBC - now on dvd for an example of urban living off the land. Good stuff.

Why would this not be legal. You can do this anywhere as long as you own the land.

I suppose you have to set up some kind of trust to pay your property taxes as well.

buy 1000 wooded acres (check for water,wild grapes and berries,small game and fish(license), (taxes).
know someone with alot of land and will let you live on it.
stay at national parks (some cost and have restrictions)
check parks services,people you know,internet,etc.
