The AL West is still open. It won't matter because the Yankees are healthy and loaded for bear.....and tigers.....and twins.....and A's or Angels.

Sorry, but the Yankees win this hands down. No one's going to be able to shut their lineup down over a 5- or a 7-game series, as none of the other three have good enough pitching to do it. Minnesota is one pitcher deep (beyond Santana, it's a joke), Oakland may have two pitchers, and Detroit three, but Kenny Rogers really needs hitters to get themselves out, and the Yankees aren't really known for getting themselves out.
A hidden factor is the fact that among the four teams, the Yankees have swiped a lot more bases than the other three (130 vs. 100 for Minnesota, 57 for Detroit, and 55 for Oakland), while not getting caught that many times (35 for New York, 42 for Minnesota, 40 for Detroit, and 19 for Oakland). When you can turn a leadoff walk or a single into a runner in scoring position very quickly, it puts a lot more pressure on the other pitching staff.

I would say that the two best teams are Minnesota and New York. It really depends on how things work out.
If Minnesota does not take the AL Central and plays New York in a five game series, I believe the edge goes to Minnesota. Santana can almost be counted on for two quality starts and if he wins both, a real possibility, it would only take one more win in three games to seal the deal.
If Minnesota has to face New York in a seven game series, the edge definitely goes to New York. The Twins starting pitchers are not as good as the Yankees, with the exception of Santana of course. Overall though both are fairly evenly matched.
My predicitons
In a five game series:
Minnesota 3-2
In a seven game series:
New York 4-3

If the Tigers draw New York it'll be very tough for them. I'd much rather them face Oakland in the LDS. If it comes down to the Tigers vs the Twins in the LCS, the Tigers have a legitimate shot at taking the AL pennant.

Well, since its established that the Tigers are going to get their asses handed to them, Im going to say either Minnesota or the Yankees. Personally, Im going with the Twins, just because they came back and knocked my Sox out and thats just how things work. I am rooting for the Yankees all the way until the World Series, where I will make a game time descision on either to stick with the Bombers or go with the Metropolitans. Its going to be an intense Postseason either way fellas.

The Angels still have a chance.
I'd love to see them come from behind and Oakland to rest!
But with that said,
All of the above teams have thier own little tricks to get past the other.
The American League is going to be a tough uphill battle for all those teams.
The Yankees think they are a shoe-in, and well they could be...but anything is possible in a short 5 game series.

If Tigers win division then the Yanks will beat the Twins but lose to the Tigers in the ALCS. If the Twins win the division then the Tigers will beat the Yanks but lose to the Twins in the ALCS. Oh yeah, and just in case your trying to analyze the logic behind this I'll just say before hand, there isnt any, just a guess....but you know what, Im probally right.

It won't be a team from the central. Tigers are horrible against winning teams. The twins don't have enough offense to keep up with the yankees. The Yankees ahve the most post season experience and the most talent. I think the Yankees over teh twins in 4 games, the A's over the tigers in 5 then the yanks over the As in 5. Yankees in teh world series. Call me an idiot, but I also predicted a sweep of teh Red sox last year.

The Yankees if we can get Randy Johnson better, and decide what we're going to do with Sheffield, Giambi, Cabrera, and Matsui. Deciding who should play what position is going to be tough, because if they're all healthy one is going to get left out. For instance, if we leave Sheffield on first, and put Matsui in the outfield, and make Giambi a designated hitter, then Cabrera is getting left out and he's been doing great lately... But if we can figure that out, and get our pitching straight, then I think we'll win the AL.
