Phil Hartman provided the voices of Loinel Hutz and Troy Maclure, who if you noticed make no appearences after Hartmans' death in1998.

Abolutely - Lionel Hutz (the terrible lawyer) and Troy McClure (you might remember him from such b-movies as...) are surely the best supporting cast members EVER in the Simpsons - irresistably comic creations. Pure comedy gold.

The series has gotten stale. This happens. They run out of fresh ideas and start recycling old ones. The best shows pull the plug when this happens, but a few go on and on and on. Bonanza is a good example of continuing on long after they've run out of ideas. Star Trek: The Next Generation had only a handful of outstanding episodes in the last three years of the series. MASH revitalized itself when they dumped Burns and Trapper John and brought in Honeycutt and Winchester. The only reason it lasted so long is because of the major cast changes and the character development.

HI! I'm a kinder, gentler me. You may remember me from such questions as: How Big Is Uranus? and Have You Ever Seen Uranus?!

No, Phil (rest his soul) was a great talent, but his Simpsons contributions consisted of lending voices to a couple of characters...the show has writers that are ultimately responsible for the quality of the show...it dropped off for a few years, but I feel they have been back on track lately.

I'm not sure who Phil Hartman is. I think it has to do with the fact that it has been on for many years and the quality just isn't as good as it once was.

As much as I like The Simpsons I will admit that it has declined a bit. They are reusing old story lines in some episodes.
