power steering problems, won't stop whinning,fluid backs out of top.

whine is from air in the system... as someone said, turn back and forth about 20 times with front wheels in the air and see if the noise is gone... (fluid coming out is why I say that... and remember you are bleeding the power steering and the brake booster)

Also Ford doesn't use power steering fluid, but regular Mercon ATF (now they are pushing Mercon V for Power steering fluid) and use of regular P/S fluid can cause noise you can't get rid of short of flushing the sysytem and crossing the fingers..

Ford dealers do have a tool to pull a vacuum when bleeding the system but some times works, sometimes doesn't...

But yeah they pretty much are known to whine on that system

You need to bleed the air out of it. put the front up on jack stands and take the cap off, turn full chock left to right about ten to twenty times each until it stops and keep it topped off. If that doesn't stop it you have a bad pump and Ford should replace it under warranty.

I think almost all ford"s p/s pumps whine, is the truck hard to steer?

Power steering pump seals are gone.
