on-line is awesome because they will tell you the latest you can order before Christmas and it will get there in time(did that make any sense?) plus there are no crowded stores and usually whatever sale is going on at the store is going on on the stores website too. and in store is good for picking up gifts for people you don't know anything about but you still feel obligated to get them a gift

I like online if I know what I want already. Sometimes it's tough to shop online if you aren't sure of what you want - it is so nice to be able to look at/examine the real thing in store sometimes.
I buy a lot at Amazon, especially when they have 3 for 4 promotions (toys r us, & target both sell through Amazon, too) & when I am going to be ordering more than $25 (they pay for shipping then).
