Why do some, very few I do understand, black Americans feel that reparations is the right thing? No one has been enslaved today in America. If anything the black leaders have made things worse. Should I force the English for reparations for what has happened to the Irish, no.

It is a pass issue. Yes the legacy of the past still hangs around today but you cannot fix that problem by forcing other people who had nothing to do with it to pay you. I am referring those who actually believe in the very racist idea of reparations.

Hate is hate. It is wrong no matter who it is against. Stop hating and learn to overcome the past.

i don't believe the governments owes me nothing for slavery because i didn't have to suffer through it my ancestors did but it would be great if ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE STOP ASKING THIS QUESTION i've seen it like 5 million times i have not seen a black person ask about reparations in my life i know a majority of blacks who hate white people but that's them and it has nothing to do with slavery but the day to day mistreatment whites do and they still seem to think their innocent

To whom are you referring? Which leaders? Be careful when you speak in absolute terms. It lessens the voracity and effectiveness of your statement.

Could it be that you have a problem when ANY Black leader makes a comment about treatment by SOME whites in a particular situation and you're uncomfortable hearing about it?

Part of the role of a "leader" is to speak out about what's happening and to speak the truth as they've experienced it.

Would you have the same criticism about those who speak on behalf of women's rights? Children's rights? The rights of the elderly or disabled? How about the poor? Would you also criticize those who speak on their behalf?

Is your problem with those who speak out against injustice, or just with those who champion the cause of African Americans?

Be careful of your answer: It may point to insensitivity, or racism.

I can't even see how it would be done. Many people who are considered "white" never profited from slavery--they're immigrants themselves, or their people immigrated long after the Civil War. Many other people are mixed-race--do they just break even, then? And what of Asians, whose ancestors had nothing to do with this?

There are so many historical injustices. Better to correct injustice in the present.

when we say we want reparations, we mean from the government. not just any and every random white person. even holocaust victims and their children/grandchildren received reparations. so why don't we? our government doesn't want to acknowledge their dark past. it's not about hate. it's not about overcoming the past. it's about the government stepping up to the plate. it's a load of b.s. to say "well we don't know who's ancestor's were slaves" because my family has contacted the former slave owner family, who knew about us.
