Am on the hunt for the 'Perfect Foundation'. I've heard Virgin's Vie Face Base is excellent. Anyone tried / using it?. I'm looking for a foundation that gives courage without looking caked and that wont be gone by noon. I have combination skin -. dry cheeks, oily T-Zone. Can anyone recommend anything. Tried Boots, Revlon, Max Factor and Clinque without success

The best foundation would have to be something with a natural look. If you can't find your shade go with one that is a shade darker and get powder that is a shade lighter and they will even each other out.

The 'perfect' foundation does exist. Just get to an Estee Lauder counter now and you'll wonder why you bothered with the other brands. All the girls in my family use the Maximum Cover foundation, which comes in a lovely navy tube rather than out of a bottle like the runnier foundations. It's a dream to apply and the coverage is flawless, plus it will stay put all day. I use Double Wear, which is the next step lighter than Maximum Cover but still gives gorgeous results. I see that someone else has also recommended this and she's spot on - we all use Clinique pressed powder in Stay Buff with ours too! You will find a perfect shade for your skin in either foundation and they also last for months on end, but DO give Estee Lauder a try and you honestly won't look back.

I also searched for a long time for "The Perfect Foundation" and I found my answer on QVC (I actually found two). The first one I tried was by Models Prefer dial a foundation. The bottle comes with a dial and two cartridges (one dark one light), then turn the dial until you have the match for your skin tone. The second is by Brenda Christianson and is an absolutely fantastic make up, you wouldn't even feel it on your skin. I have to admit I think the secret to a all day coverage is a good primer, models prefer do this and it can be used with all types of makeup, I would advise you to try this ( A primer) then your chosen makeup and a light textured pressed /loose powder to set your make up each morning this should do the trick.

You need Estee Lauder Maximum Cover. Shade 04 LIght if you are European other shades if Afro etc. Please do not be put off by' Maximum' cover. This is not a thick make up and you need not put it all over your face if you don't want to. It makes the perfect canvas to apply the rest of your make up. It evens out the skin tone and hides blemishes perfectly. Whats more is that it stays on your face all day without disappearing! A perfect partner to this is Clinique powder. I use stay buff shade but there are lots of others. Many people have asked me exactly which foundation I use and they have bought it and been delighted with the results. It costs about £16 I think but lasts ages. I really hope you find success with this. I'd be interested to know if it works for you. (edenblu22@hotmail.com)Best of luck.

I'm 36 and still get spots, but two years ago, I started using mineral powder foundation, and it really works. Mineral powders gives you full coverage. Have a look at the following website, they have a wide range of colours to chose from and do sample pots for £1.75.

So if you purchase a sample, make sure you get a colour and the finishing powder.

Seriously it really does work, and its much better for the skin that cream foundation. I can't put that stuff on my face anymore after use mineral powder.

Order today, and you should get it tomorrow or Saturday.

Go on, give it a go.

I have been using a foundation called prescriptives for the last 9 months,my daughter bought it me for christmas because it is £45.It is custom made for your skin so you can ask for what you want added, for example i have combination skin like you so i have oil free and matt, also i have an illuminator put in it that hides fine lines and it is the exact colour for your skin tone.

It is absolutely brilliant ,i only use it at weekends and still have half a bottle left, also i get lots of compliments when i wear it ,so i know its good.
The prescriptives counter will keep a file of your blend and when you go for more will have all the details of the mix they used.

I buy it from John Lewis,I have added below the web site so you can find out your nearest stockist ,good luck ,i know you will love it.

I would have suggested Revlon Colorstay, but the problem is that you might have tried it and I honestly think that removing it is a hell of a job. That said, I highly recommend Prescriptives Flawless. Go to PX's counter in a department and give this a try. Even if this does not work for you, they have other foundations that might.

Hi,
Try Stila or Laura Mercier. Stlia do lots of different ones with different coverage and loads of shades, and Laura Mercier do a really nice tinted moisturiser and also an Oil Free Foundation.

Maybe you need to use different ones at different times of the year - something lighter/oil free in the summer and something a little more nourishing in the winter months...

My skin is like yours. I use Dermalogica tinted moisturizer. It gives enough coverage, stays on all day, and has an SPF of 15. I've been using it for a few years and I'm very happy with it after doing the looonnggg trial and error search process.

I know you say you've tried Max factor, but have you tried their Colour Adapt foundation ? It's the best i've found, and like yourself I went on a very lengthy search !
