I tried adding potassium sulfate to the silicate solution, then using calcium chloride "seeds".
Growths are alot stronger due to calcium sulfate?
Adding sodium carbonate/phosphate/hydroxide may help with other metal salts.

They are too fragile...if you want to try to save them try a liquid plastic resin that is clear and will harden around them
