All states require a certain number of education hours and experience; however, the required education and experience hours vary from state to state. In addition, each state has a list of specific education providers that they'll accept for education (again, this varies from state to state). To get your license, you have to meet the education and experience requirements, submit an application and pass a state examination.

You should contact your state's appraiser licensing department to find out what the specific licensing requirements and procedures are for your state. Visit http://www.appraisalfoundation.org/s_appraisal/doc.asp?CID=21&DID=196 to find contact information for the licensing departments for each state.

You should be aware that the minimum education requirements are changing *nationwide* effective January 1, 2008...you should visit http://www.appraisalfoundation.org/s_appraisal/sec.asp?CID=2&DID=2 to educate yourself on these changes.

Best of luck!
