I don't know.
But did you know that they have blue blood too? That's why I don't especially like to have them around for dinner. So perhaps it's a kind of natural defence system....

blue is a nice colour
if they were red they would look like little devils,
if they were brown ......
pink would be a little over the top
blue goes well with their white hats
