You can find historical hotels listed on the travel sites. The Waldorf-Astoria in NYC, the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco, the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. You need to research the history of the area, and then go to Orbitz or Travelocity. If you go to a specialty site, one that deals exclusively in historic hotels, you will pay a premium. I once got The Stanford Court (Leland Stanford, railroad tycoon, Stanford University) in SF, a 4 or 5 star hotel, for $79 per night through Priceline. Keep in mind that, although a historic hotel, it is owned by Marriott and uses their standard reservations systems. Check for deals!

Are you looking for old hotels in OH? The southern part of OH has lots of really neat old places to stay in. Marietta used to have a historic hotel as well as some of the areas near Amish country.
