i thought we all learned that women are the X chromosome, and men are the X or Y...so HE is the one to "blame"! (not there is anyone to blame, but some people actually do!)

Traditionally the woman has blamed because throughout the ages, women were associated with weakness and were responsible for purity as the sole carriers of children. If a woman could not bear a son, it was because she was associated with a weakness, be it spiritual, mental or physical, and she was being punished for this weakness by god or what have you.

Of course, with today's advances in science at the cellular and chromosomal levels, we are actually able to understand that the answer is biological, and that in fact, it has been suggested that the culprit to having a child of either sex lays in the lysosomal makeup of the man's semen.

Its just because of ignorance. Though sperm is the deciding factor, its just a matter of probability which sperm will fertilize the ovum. So there is no one to blame. Anyway, thinking that having a son is better than having a daughter is ouhtrightly shameful and an indicator of ignorance.

My first husband and I tried for a baby for an entire year and he kept blaming me that I can't have children. I think that was one of the reasons we divorced.

But my second husband, I got pregnant in 2 months after we were married.

I ran into my first husband 7 years later and he has two children.
I think that we were not meant to have children together for some reason.

I've heard that the sex of the child can in fact be affected by the mother's diet and intake, which I suppose makes some sort of sense. When you think about it, why else would human hermaphrodites exist when they're supposed to be either male OR female, not both?

I recall a study that concluded that the sex of the child is most often the sex of that parent who is most run-down at the moment of conception. So if a man wants a son, he should get out of bed, jog for ten miles, come back home and serve his wife breakfast in bed, and then..... and then.....

Because traditionally, the woman had all the responsibility. And there still are some people who aren't educated enough to have taken high school biology

You seem to already know the answer.
Only an ignorant fool would BLAME the wife.
But might be upset if she should be infertile.
