yeah it can. any birth control can screw with your period at first but you dont mention how long youve been taking it and if you put it on late or whatever. if you messed on putting it on and had sex you could possibly be pregnant but my periods were always like 4 days after i took the last patch off so it may be nothing to worry about.

If you're already a week late I'd do a pregnancy test to be sure. I haven't used the patch but often early pregnancy symptoms are very similar to what you experience when you're about to get your period. I'm 32 weeks pregnant now and also kept expecting my first period that I missed because I had the symptoms (skin breaking out, some cramps, etc.).

Unfortunately no method of birth control is 100% certain, even sterilisation is only 99.7% effective (so 3 women out of every 1000 will get pregnant) - so it's possible that you can be pregnant.

I would not use the patch. Studies came out last week regarding the patch causing some potentially life threatning health risks including blood clots in the heart and lungs.

Switch to the nuva ring

i got pregnant on the patch!!!!! i have a13 month old baby boy!!! i used it the right way and changed it like i was supposed to.. and STILL got pregnant. Then at my 6wk check up after I had my son, my DR. said that she NEVER prescribes the patch... cause she has seen it too many times NOT work

When starting a new type of birth control it takes a few months for your menstrual cycle to get back in routine. I wouldn't worry about being late. If you are worried take a pregnancy test.

I would ask your doctor to be sure and get a preg test just in case.

If you just started this it is normal. Other wise I would talk to your doc
