I am trying to time the engine but the camshafts never line up becuase of the floating/spring-loaded camshaft gear. Does it ever line up again after two turns of the crankshaft? What am I doing wrong?

If done right and with engine off, yes it does... are you setting the block in the back of the cams to lock it in place when you replace the belt and tentioning everything up before removing the cam holder and rotating the assy? It may be a hair off but within about 2 degrees of crank rotation or so , all should line up no problems... I've had a few looking wrong like that but were actually right. I've actually stated them up to double check myself (with crank pulley on of course)

Best is to get the book to run you step by step as the hydralics for the cam advance can mess you up occasionally
