Due dates are just educated guesses. My daughter was born 6 weeks early they thought, but she ended up being on time.. SO it is perfectly possible.

Hopefully your Dr. will be wise enough to induce you.

I have a cousin who went 3 weeks past her due date. Her Dr. just kept saying "Let's let nature take it's course" - Well it turns out there is a reason behind the 40 weeks and then your done theory. My cousins baby ran out of room to grow and it effected her bones, and her growth. She's now 8 years old and you can tell by the way she walks that leaving her in the womb to long did permanent damage.

If you're Dr. is telling you to wait - maybe check with another Dr.

Good Luck!

It can happen, but it is unlikely that your physician will allow it. Past the point of 14 days overdue the baby begins to lose weight rapidly. If your doctor has let you go this long without inducing, he has medical reasons. I will say that you should be aware of those reasons by now though. Good luck with everything and congratulations.

My due date changed into June second. She changed into born would seventeenth. So i imagine 15 or 16 days. yet once she changed into born the well being practitioner reported i changed into quite a lot 39 weeks instead of quite a lot 37 it truly is what we were happening the completed time.

it happens that some babies are late more then a few days and I would argue the validity of original due date or the doctor who let a pregnancy go on this long. there are complications with babies born way over the due date.

Most Dr.'s will not allow you to go that far past your due date. I was 4 days overdue with my son and was scheduled to be induced at 7 days over but I had him without being induced. My Dr. explained that he wanted to induce if I did not go into labor on my own because the placenta starts to breakdown and it is safer to deliver than to wait. I know that 4 days over just about drove me nuts. Why would anyone want to wait 20?

It can happen.... I was due October first and born on the 27th so I was 4 weeks late...but as to your question of how often that happens now a days...It's hard to say as prenatal medical care is different in different locations and classes...A 10 month pregnancy may be uncomfotable but it can and does happen

My second son was 3 weeks late!!! The doctor said he just was not ready to be born yet, just taking his time. He weighed over 8 pounds and i was huge! But, that was over 20 years ago. Today the doctors would just take the baby.

Maybe they got the due date wrong; now *that* can happen. Are you sure about the conception date? They changed my due date twice for my daughter, had it right on the mark for her younger brother and my youngest child (another boy) was born two days early.

Happens all the time. It's "normal" to deliver 2 weeks before or past the due date - that's a whole month's time frame to go into labor! i can't imagine six days past that wold be that abnormal. If your doctor's worried that the baby's getting too big they'll induce you.
