18 to 20 weeks or so. The flutters are it! The first time I could see my baby moving I was laying back relaxing in the bathtub and saw a little bump move around on my belly. Once I could see and feel at the same time I realized that the flutter feeling was the feeling of the baby moving. It will get stronger as the fetus grows. Congragulations!

It does start with flutters.
Most women feel the first real kicks between 20 and 24 weeks with a first pregnancy - I think I felt flutters up to about 22 weeks and then sometime in the 23rd week I felt proper kicks. If you haven't felt any movement by the 24th week your doctor may get worried and will possibly do an ultrasound to check that all's well.
If the placenta is in front (i.e. between your uterus and the skin of your belly) it will take longer to feel movement because there are no nerve endings in the placenta and so it's hard to feel when the baby is kicking against the placenta. He/she actually needs to kick hard enough that you can feel it right through the placenta.
It's pretty hard to feel kicks that go anywhere except onto your belly (i.e. you don't normally feel it when the baby kicks towards your back) again because of so few nerve endings. I'm 32 weeks pregnant now with a VERY VERY active baby but I still mostly feel her kick my belly.
Don't worry too much; I'm sure you'll feel those first real kicks soon!

I first felt flutters at 14 weeks (this is my first child). I wasn't sure what they were, but the feeling was inconsistent. I would feel it one day but not the next.
It wasn't until 6 weeks later when I was at work and I felt the same feeling, but this time it was consist ant for about 2 hours. It's OK to feel only flutters at 22 weeks -- that's actually about right.
When I first felt "flutters", it felt like gentle tapping but from the inside. Another way I could describe it was like popcorn popping inside my belly.
Everyone can tell you how it feels, but you won't know for sure until the baby really starts kicking and then you'll think, "That was flutters that I was feeling a few weeks ago!!!"
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I felt the first flutters in both of my pregnancies at 15 1/2 weeks. There's a lot of factors involved though such as position of the placenta, firmness of the abodminal wall and stomach muscles, and baby being in the right place at the right time for you to feel the kick!

Well that varies from person to person and baby to baby. It can happen from 16 weeks to 24 or25 weeks. I started feeling my baby flutter around 16 1/2 weeks and I am 24 weeks now and he kicks and moves like crazy! I wouldn't worry as long as the doctor says he is healthy. If you continue to have concern make sure you call your doctor and mention it to them. Good luck and congratulations!

Flutters are exactly how it starts. As the baby's legs and arms get stronger, you'll feel more solid and distinct movements. Give it another 2 weeks and then be ready for the best feeling of your life!

If it is your first pregnancy it will be later on...probably between the 20th and 25th week. At first you won't know if it's the baby moving for sure, but soon it will be undeniable! You will be able to feel (and see!) movements in your stomach unlike gas bubbles or cramps or anything familiar. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt, it's actually really cool! When I was pregnant and sitting at my desk at work, if my belly was touching the desk, my little one would start kicking where it was touching as if he didn't want to be bothered! The weirdest part is after he was born, some of the movements he would make I could recognize as movements he made in the womb.
Good luck and congratulations!! Hope all goes well!!

yeah that's how it starts out as flutters but as the baby grows bigger the flutters turn into kicks, rolls, and all that wonderful stuff. i remember when my little one did that and i think i was about six and a half months, she's now four years old but one neat thing to try to watch your little one move when you get a little farther along take a warm bath and just lay back and watch all the little movements. It's so exciting.

I felt my first fetal movement or kick at 17 weeks and this was my first baby. The first time i felt flutters were at 16 weeks. Yes this is how it starts, they will become stronger as time goes on.

My wife & I are expecting our first baby and are at 21 weeks. First of all she felt what she described as flutters, which is actually the baby moving around. So that sounds about right. I think that they get stronger as time goes on.
Good luck !!!!
