I understand the whole concept of that withdrawing isn't added to your GPA, however it stays on your transcript.

Is it better to have poor grades on your transcript verses a withdraw and an A on the class you withdrew from?

Also, how does having a withdraw effect transferring to different colleges?

In most cases a "W" won't hurt you in any way. Just don't go doing it every semester.

Each college treats withdraws a different way. Some count it as an F until you repeat the course. Some don't even list it on your transcipt at all - you couldnt tell from the transcipt that you were ever in the course.

If you want to get a correct answer for YOUR school, you need to go to the Registrar's office and ask the people there. They will know exactly how it works. You are not going to get the right answer to this question on Yahoo!
