Why is it that disabled people are sometimes targets of nastiness and even outright hate crimes? As a mentally ill person, I have been teased, mocked, yelled at by passers-by, even had people physically attack me by throwing things at me because I have trouble standing still because of psych meds and two bad knees...Why do people think that teasing others that are 'different' is perfectly all right and even cool? And why is it that some parents never teach their children not to tease or do hateful things to others who are not 'like them'?

i am so sorry that people are so evil twards u. its not fair. it really should not happen. some ppl in this world have a superiority complex. they think they are perfect and better than everyone even though they are worse for being prejudiced and plain evil. you should just laugh at them because when they are taugntitn u they are really trying to disguise their faults but really blowing them up for everyone too see. a friends fiances brother has down syndrome. he leads a normal life up to a point. he deals with it well, he is smart, kind and a hard worker. ppl should realise that disabled ppl are human beings and are no diff to anyone on the inside. i hope that ur experiences have not got u down. try and look past them.you are a nice kind person with a mind a heart and a soul. ur no diff to anyone. i wish you the very best of luck, succsess, happiness and love in ur life. keep being brave

I really don't know. I guess because they think they are just living off the government, even tho most of them can not help it. or like this guy I worked with growing up was deaf and people would laugh when we would use sign language. I don't know if they thought I was deaf to, and could not hear them but I could.

Honey, I wish I could stand up for you. I can only raise my children to understand that some folks are just different, not less, which is what I am doing. Let go and let God handle it.

Because those same parents make fun of disable people too. And some parents smoke pot alongside their children! Such a sick world!
