Cutting it short is not a good idea. . .In my 42 years of working for a living, I never had a problem with it, though I did know a guy who would fall to sleep and people would have to wake him up. The reason for it, it turned out he had sleep apnea and once he took care of that problem. . no more sleeping on the bowl. . .actually he fell asleep driving had a wreck and while hospitalized found out he has Sleep Apnea. . .He was safer crashing on the bowl. . .
I had to add this. . .I was a Supervisor at a remote job site and had about 20 employees working on a Naval Air Base. A worker came in from the hangar to ask if I had seen his partner and I said "No" and asked why. . .He stated that he left the hangar to use the bathroom and never came back.. . .Well, I knew this gentleman and knew he was not a slacker, so we all went looking for him. . to no avail. I was worried as he was an older fellow, but no matter where we looked, he could not be found. About a half an hour passes by and he shows up at my desk.
He tells me what happened. . . I swear, I did not mean to laugh at him but tears were rolling down my eyes and my stomach muscles were cramping listening to him. He was taking (or leaving) a dump and figured he'd be polite and give a "Courtesy Flush" . He was wearing coveralls over his pants which were both below his knees, when the bowl over flowed. He said it was a mess. . .so. . he "SNEAKED OUT" and went to his hotel room to change. If I had him on tape it would be a classic. . . he kept saying "It's not funny" as I was rolling all over my office holding my gut.

Keep in mind the bathroom is not a library. While there is no set time limit for a dump always remember the rule of the courtesy flush. Your coworkers will thank you.

Something is wrong physically if you are taking such a long time pooping! Eat a salad once in a while and drink plenty of water! Hydration helps the bowels get everything out!

If everythings is in working order then you should not be more than 15mins. However if you had alot of bread, no fiber and water than add another 15 mins. If you feel the need to stay in there for an hour or more than i would ask to leave early.

Why is it called "taking a dump"? Just exactly where are you taking your dump? How about "leaving a dump" because you are leaving it in the toilet? :)
I say 5 minuets max.

all depends on what break you are on. if its lunch then take 1/2 an hour, then eat at your desk. however, if you have the hershey squirts, you can let someone (supervisor) know and take your time. you might even be appreciated for going to work and not calling out.

i think 5 min is good, no more than 10 for extreme cases. otherwise that would just be unprofessional.
