I look at videos of music from the 'golden era' (60's thru early 90's) and see great performers, not just great singers and bands; not only do they get up on stage and perform their hits, they really entertain the crowd with their antics and put on a show. These days artists seem to just get up on stage, sing, and go back to their dressing rooms with no soul in thier performances.

I'm thinking of stadium fillers like GnR, Queen, Springsteen etc etc, and also stars like Presley and Cash who interfaced with the audience on an almost personal level during thier acts.

Will we see this no more?!

The great video days are gone. The only way that you will get the quality you want is to try and follow the oldies but goodies at least until they have to get around in wheel chairs.

Oasis , R.E.M and Robbie Williams are still great at performing. U2 and Madonna are regarded as being so too.

You left it is a bit early by saying the mid 90s- Britpop was in its peak in 1995 and 1996 and then The Verve and Radiohead seemed to put a full stop on it with two great but quite introspective, philosophical albums- Urban Hymns and OK Computer and dance music, initially headed by The Prodigy and Underworld, became the dominant genre.

Sadly, many people's idea of a star now is some DJ who gets drunk with the crowd.

I may be going to see Brian Wilson this year- even at his age and with all his problems he has more charisma than many other acts put together.

Some potential true stars are already out there but the radio is only interested in the people who've already got record deals.

Blame the radio to some extent for not promoting the real stars and falling back on 'feel good' 80s music and dance music instead.
