i use bleach for my whites and colors to whiten and kill germs. i noticed thought when i pour some in while the tank is filling, after i put the soap , it turns reddish for a sec or so.

yeah thats just teh reaction between the soap and the bleach

You're putting in a little too much. Are you using the guide on the bleach bottle?

Be careful, too much bleach can damage your whites (i.e. thin them out and make it easier for holes to appear). Use a little less bleach and pour the bleach in as your washer tub is filling; NOT DIRECTLY ON THE CLOTHES.

Another helpful tip, add a tablespoon of baking soda. It really brightens your white and also, OXI-CLEAN really does work.

this also happens to me. I think that most of our soaps are made to be use in all clothes, so I think whatever they use in it causes a chemical reaction and that's why you see the color rust/red. Try putting the bleach first and see it doesn't turn color. now put in the soap and you will see the rust/red appear.
