Disability is NOT an open fund for you to collect when you ARE able to work. If you can work, then why should they pay you disability? I agree with the the answerer that said No job is lesser. Just because you think you are ABOVE doing a job that is offered doesn't mean you do not have to take it.
By many state laws you ARE required to take a job when one is available. Apparently your disability is NOT considered severe enough to make you unable to work. So, my guess would be that you are considered partially disabled & NOT totally disabled.
Take the job. From what I understand about many states, if you refuse to accept a job offered you, then SSI has then right to drop your disability.
SSI is suppose to be there to help people who are to disabled to work at all. They are NOT there to support people who can work but do not want to or people who think they are above taking a job they feel is beneath them.

Are you saying that someone at the SSA has a "lesser job"? That's rather insulting, don't you think? They probably enjoy their jobs--no job is a "lesser" job, as long as it is worthwhile work to the person DOING the job. "Politician"? I'm not sure what that has to do with anything either.

Sheesh!
