Well, technically yes. See what you are doing is planting seeds. You are doing this mentally, emotionallly. So that if temptation or opportunity ever presents itself........you will be much more inclined to indulge it.
I speak from experience. Though my marriage was ending......
Thinking the thoughts, indulging the attraction even though there was no IMPLEMENTATION of it........one day, simple and innocent things led to a roaring fire of desire. Temptation didn't just rear it's ugly head......IT JUMPED OUT OF THE BUSHES BUTT NAKED AND PINNED ME DOWN. In other words, it was VERY clear and very intense. And the fantasies that I had........
made the opportunity a VERY intense DESIRE that I wanted as badly as the air that my lungs need to breathe.
Be careful.....sparks can sometimes lead to fires and infernos.

I suppose in a way it might be called mental cheating but fantasies that really turn you on are beneficial to all concerned so just keep it to yourself and fantasize.
P.S. Has your wifes friend ever implied any interest in you? If not you're fantasy could also be mental rape. The fantasy police could get you.

What so ever a man thinketh so is he. Actions were once thoughts at some time. You're obviously feeling guilty otherwise you would not have need to ask the question. Keep your thoughts on your wife and off of her friend. How would you feel if she were having impure thoughts about your best friend?

It's only cheating if you actually carry out a sexual act....fantasizing is not cheating....it is something most everyone does to keep the sexual part of their brains active....just make sure you keep your hands to yourself and don't be a naughty boy!!!!

Well, she might think so, but I don't. Just make sure that you don't get too into it and yell out your wife's best friends name in bed!!!
That would be REALLY bad!

No, it's not.
I suggest to let it rest, or change the subject of your affection before it turns into other thing.
