When you buy products that have a lot of chemicals look for a symbol on the package that says 'ozone safe'. Things like hairspray etc. often times we have the option of the safe product that doesn't deplete the ozone layer and we don't even notice.

A bigger problem to address, indeed the one that is killing the polar bears, is the rise of greenhouse gases. This isn't necessarily linked to the depletion of ozone, but is an environmental issue. What you can do here is minimize your carbon foot print by being more energy efficient. There are many things you can do, indeed the utility that supplies your electricity is likely to have some sort of informative website on actions you can take.

Don't drive a car. Use public transit.
Support political candidates who take this problem seriously.
Don't waste electricity.

Also. Forgive the ignoramuses who think this is a joke.
