Back to the Future - the first movie... however, I don't think there are very many trilogy (or any other movies with sequals) that the second... third... or more movies made after the original that are nearly as good as the first!!!
(I would have said Lord of the Rings... but just because there are 3 movies filmed, the story was continuous - not quite the idea of a sequal to me)

Okay...perhaps not trilogy in strictest sense of the word, so all sci fi fans, please don't lob objects (ducks) but I love the Austin Powers series. It's very funny...
Coming in a close second would be the Indiana Jones Trilogy....

movie trilogy? the only one i can think of right now is Lord of the Rings. I enjoyed that one.
