Someone described a friend's girlfriend as a 'lovely lady'.
Not wanting to press the issue, I did not ask for clarification.
When it comes to physical appearance, what do think lovely means?
Pretty, beautiful, nice, attractive....what???

Lovely is a term that usually is used in a general sense. Pleasant, aesthetically pleasing, kind...Not necessarily a beauty queen, but not always the bottom list appearance either. I would think a lovely person is someone worth getting to know. All of the superficial attritubes mean nothing in the long-run anyway.

Generally when one is spoken of as lovely, this could include the personality as well.....
to me a lovely person is one who is enjoyable to be around and altho may be not in the line of beauty queen yet has something attractive about them.

Well in my experience, it depends on the person. If it was an older woman, she meant pretty. If it was anybody else, they meant ugly. If you notice, people always say "oh thats.....lovely!" when its not.

I think they are talking about the package deal. Personality, grace, poise, beauty.

i think lovely describes the personality Rather than looks,maybe they didn't want to comment on looks?

i dont think they meant it physically... but more in the sense taht she was very sweet... kind, ... or if they meant physically... that she was sweet, well dressed, like a lady..
