Haha, I remember back in the day, I did the old blow like all hell into it to get any dust out. I bet that compressed air would do a good job to clean them out and maybe try to get water or alcohol on a Q-tip and clean in it a little. I'd be careful though, you never know what that will do to those old games now. I also tricked the Nintendo a little and put the game in and put something else in to either push it in farther or press it down into the system a little more. I tried a number of different things and eventually I got them to work. Since those systems are older than the hills now, I'm sure you can't find the cleaning kits anymore. I actually just gave a bunch of my old NES games away to a guy that still had his in working order to. You must really have taken care of it! Good luck!

I play my NES all the time. Blow in the cartridge from the very corner to other corner. It also depends on how you put it in the machine. You can try to barely slide it over the edge, sometimes this works. You can also hold it down while you start it then put something in there to keep it down if it works. Don't know about the SNES.

Actually blowing into the cartridge and system pushes any dust and particles further back into the device, while it may temporarily allow you to play, it doesn't fix the problem and can actually accumulate more dust in there.

It's one of those things that makes sense at the time, and seems to work but it's actually what you shouldn't do. I'm guilty of it too :-P

Cleaning the contact points is the best solution.

All you can really do without having to buy any thing or take it apart is to mix a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water. Take a cotton swab and clean both sides of the contacts. You might have to do this three or four times.

i've never encountered that problem with an snes game.

for games, cleaning them is all well and good, and alcohol is the best option for that, but the problem is mostly the system

if you replace the pin connector on the systems, the games will work a lot better

Yes.

Download the ROMS from a file sharing network such as Bearshare and then get the appropriate emulator here: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/snes/

Then play away on your computer.

take a cotton swab, dip it in alcohol and clean the contact points both on the games themselves and inside the machine...

Should help alot...
If you go to one of those old game reseller stores they'll probably have a cleaner cartridge that'll make it easier but the cotton swab works fine too...
