Guild Wars! It isn't pay to play. Each of the expansions are designed to be stand alone, or can be integrated into the "core" game. I myself currently own a Prophecies and Factions merged account. I am going to buy the newest expansion when it comes out, Nightfall. (That is the 3rd of 5 planned "chapters" so far.)

Everquest 2 .. game has gotten much better... play an illusionist or coecer as those are the 2 least played classes yet they rule in terms of their abilities. Don't play on a pvp server they suck royally ... I play on blackburrow and it's a pretty good server.
