ok . . by the dates that my doctor gave me when I first found out I was pregnant, I should be 18 weeks and 4 days . . . I went for my first ultrasound last week, and the tech said that according to my measurements, I was more like 19 or 20 weeks . . . then yesterday, I went to the doctor and I was measured at 25 weeks . . . so exactly how far along am I? . . or is it all just a big estimate and there's really no way to tell? . . how does all of this affect my due date?? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

you could just be carrying a larger baby. if you know the day your last period started, use that to determine just how far along you are. if that is how you and your doctor got the first set of dates, that would be the most accurate. measurements are not always accurate, especially ultrasound, due to individual techniques, wiggly baby or even you being a little bloated from gas or water weight. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

My belly always measured 3 weeks further along then what my ultrasound and actual dates according to my last period stated. If the doctor was right and i was 3 weeks further along i would have delivered my baby at 44 weeks lol. I acyually delivered at 41 weeks with a large baby. so anything is possible. I would go with 19 weeks as it is close to what your doctor stated the first time.

i think the intial estimates are usually more accurate. the babies are small then and usually are developing at the same rate. once the pregnancy continues for some time, you're right...they develop at different stages. they go by the date you gave them initially, date of your last cycle, once you've had an ultrasound, they measure the fetus...that's more accurate. we usually miscalculate. i'd say go by the first dates. but next time you're at the office, explain to them your confusion and have the doctor tell you exactly how many weeks you are!

go by the ultra sound tech the measurements are a little more accurate. The other dates come from the first day of your last period, and those dates could be off a little

due dates are determined by different ways
one way is by the date of your last missed period, this one is the most accurate
they also use measurements which are more of an estimate

I can see why you are frustrated. I'd go by the your doctor's dates. As I got further along in pregnancy I'd measure a week or two ahead of schedule.
My doctor told me Aug 3
Ultrasound told me July 27
I had my baby Aug 2nd.

I had been hoping to have it earlier, but didn't! :)
Don't stress over this. Wait a few more weeks and see what your doctor says. I wouldn't get my hopes up for the earliest date, just in case.

All due dates are estimates based on the date of last period.
I would take the 25 week date seriously myself tho.
Especially if you aren't sure when you conceived.

Go off of the first dates they gave you because it is the most accurate! Baby's grow in weight and length differently but usually their lungs mature at the same rate and you don't want them born too early.

you really need to think back when ur last period was, and get a doctor who can get an exact measurment for u. that way u can get an idea of when u ll be expecting to give birth, it helps to know.

It is all a big estimate, unless you know your exact date of conception. Go with whatever the doc says :-)
