Anyways he looks very normal for an Italian or a ''Sicilian''.
Italians from the South are a lot darker because of Arabic and African invasions long ago...
Italians from the North have skin that is a lot more fair and lighter colored hair... It's near countries such as Austria, France and Switzerland.. so you can imagine why they aren't dark there.
It's funny because my nonno looks like yours! lol...
Italian grandparents are always so cute :-)

Sicilians are dark because of African invasions long ago. I think your grandpa is very handsome. There is nothing unusual looking about him at all. His African feature of darker skin is just more noticable. Are you afraid your kids will take on his complexion or something? They might. Don't be. Black is beautiful!!!!

Looks less Italian than north African, maybe some of his family emigrated to Sicily from Africa
