Well, if both of the equations equal 0 then they must also equal each other. Therefore,

2w+3x-12 = x+5w-13

You take it from there. (Get all the factors on the same side of the equal sign.)

x + 5w - 13 = 0
x = 13 - 5w

substitute into first equation:
2w + 3(13 - 5w) - 13 = 0 ????????
solve to get w = 2

Substitute into line 2 above:
x = 13 - 5(2)

The line marked with ???? should have been like this
2w + 3(13 - 5w) - 12 = 0
he placed a negative 13 instead of 12. Continue from there otherwise it's a very good way to solve it.

x = 13 - 5w from the second equation

substitute this into the first equation

2w + 3(13 - 5w) - 12 = 0
2w + 39 -15w -12 = 0
-13w + 27=0
27 = 13w
w = 13/27

Then substitute back in to find x
