And what things are ok to ask ?

My main doubt is if the organisation is mainly funded through governmental fundings as I don't want to work in non-profit.

A phone call may be seen by the hiring manager as a welcome relief from the mountain of CV's he is having to plough through, and may help you jump the queue and make a good impression before he has spoken to any other candidates. Go for it.

Good luck.

Try connecting through a employment agency. They do most of the research on companies and after you finish testing and background check it's a go. After usually 90 days you can hire on full time. Gives you time too see if the company is something that you want to stay with for the long haul. Good Luck. As for the other part of the question if they ask one to call then do so and be prepared to answer a few questions and fax resume and maybe cover letter.

Put a business suit on, get a haircut, clip your fingernails and go there. People give you automatic respect for some reason when someone is wearing a business suit. Meet with the HR dept, ask about the culture, then ask them if they are hiring.

Check the organization on line. Most have web sites that will tell you if they're non profit. You might even be able to apply on line. Also the better business bureau will also have that info. Alot of places will not take calls about employment.
