the last night of the proms
the british empire (come on we all know it was the English that fired up that engine and im of Welsh decent) it changed the world beyond recognition and was the biggest and most successful empire history has ever seen.
the hymn "Jerusalem"
the womens institute
football (ok, we are not the best but we invented it)
rugby (ditto)
cricket (ditto)
cockney rhyming slang
being the best armed forces in the world (with the help of the Welsh, Irish & the Scots of course).
too many inventions to cite here
tolerance - we almost iinvented it, to our detriment and our pride we are the most inclusionist, tolerant nation on earth and tha twould be a source of huge national pride if other less "nice" nations didnt take the pis.s out of it.
I feel that the question was meant to show a flaw in our national "achievement"? if that is the case then if you (the asker) were to gen up on what the English have actualy done for the world then you may have asked it in a different manner.

There is nothing in English history that a member of another country would deem inspirational. Think of their involvement around the world over the years.

For causing the Great Irish Famine, not too many countries can boast about creating mass emigration and over a million deaths.
