Ok explanation for a 12 year old: Enzymes are the things in your body used to make reactions happen much faster.
Enzymes will break down food that has been eaten into much smaller bits. These then pass through the lining of the small intestine and into the blood which then carries it round the body.

Here are some examples if you want them proteins are broken up by enzymes called Trypsin and Chymotrypsin
Different sugars are broken down by maltase, sucrase and lactase.

Molecules have to small to pass through from the walls of the intestines into the blood. Large molecules such as proteins have to be broken down into small molecules (amino acids). This is largely done by enzymes in the intestines although not exclusively as bile (produced by the liver) helps break down fats.

enzymes assist in the break down of food from complex structures to simple structures e.g. protein -> polypeptide chains->smaller polypeptide chains -> amino acids. These small molecules are then easily able to diffuse accross the membrane and into the blood to be transported to where they are needed and used to create things the body needs e.g enzymes

the food is broken down by acids and enzymes sectreted in the stomach. the food is then moves to the small intestines where it is absorbed into the blood
