you calculate 14 days from the first day of your last period, for example if your last period was august 21, count 14 calender days and that would be sept 4th, would be your ovulating day, or to make it easier go to google.com and type in olvulation calculator, and it will do it for you on one of the sites!! good luck

There are over the counter ovulation predictor kits available, which come with instructions for how to use and interpret them.
You can also learn how to chart your cycles and your fertility signs yourself. I highly recommend a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. She teaches the Fertility Awareness Method which involves monitoring your basal body temperature and the quantity and condition of your cervical mucous in order to determine when your most fertile days are. In addition, it's just a lot of good information about how the female body and monthly cycle work.
The "14 days after your period" thing is a myth that only applies to the average woman with the average 28 day cycle. As few as 10% of women may actually ovulate ON Day 14 and if you're not one of them, you could be missing out on your chances each month. TCOYF will explain why this is true and what it means for you as an individual, rather than "the average woman."

One way you could know when you are ovulating is by buying a ovulation test and it lets you know.

I guessed, some of us have pretty irregular cycles. When I was trying to become pregnant, I went out and bought those ovulation kits. You pee on a stick and it tells you if you are ovulating.

Usually women ovulate on the 14th day after their first day of the period. but all women are differnt some may ovulate 9 days after their period, or 10 days...it varies. the best way to find out is record your temp everyday and chart it.

ur temperature (taken first thing in the morning) will spike half a degree or more. u may notice ur vaginal discharge will thicken and resemble the consistency of a ray egg white. personally my sex drive was more like overdrive during that time. and if ur period is normal u ovulate 2 weeks before ur period is expected. start paying attention for a few monthes and u will know it's coming without ur temp, discharge, etc. u will just get in sync

Well if you're wondering for the reason of fertility then you can by ovulation predictors. They're like pregnancy tests but they tell you when you're ovulating.

You can go by a fertility chart, normally 14 days after the first day of your period. Also there are tests out at walmart you can take and it will tell you. I also think when your discharge is kindof stringy (stretchy like) then you are..but dont take me to heart on that one. Hope this helps and good luck.
