I'd like to take some time off before I start school again. I'd like to feel productive, but at the same time have fun.

You should be applying to get into college. A year off is not the way to go. Yes, it sounds great. But guess what, a year off always sounds great, no matter how old you are. But being lazy bum for a year when you are young is not the way to go. Plus, the odds of people going to college that take a year off drop dramatically. Just go to school and get it done. Not to mention that college is really a lot of fun for most people. Think of it this way- you'll likely be able to retire a year earlier if you get started now. So stop trying to delay your life and grow up!

You could take out this time and travel...like a nice vacation. Or work and volunteer(you're gonna need money for college). Something like that.

Don't take a break!!! The likelyhood that you'll go to college will be slim if you take time off!
