The recent drop in gasoline prices are likely to impact a parent's ability to fund a college student's lifestyle better. Also, it might make road trips a possibility again. I don't really believe it will make that much of a difference though as it is very transient. Most people right now are happy the price of gas has dropped, but it's still way higher than it was just 3 years ago, and it's not likely to last very long anyway before it starts to go up again. People are taking a "wait and see" approach right now. Many believe there's a conspiracy to boost the economy before the Christmas season...which, does seem to make sense.

This is easy.

Cheaper gas = More money to spend on trips, spring break, trips home, parties and drinking!

High gas prices = more dorm parties and probably better grades because everyone's flat broke.
