I know you said no cooking, but this only requires heating.

Chocolate-covered spoons are great for dipping in coffee, etc. I found the plastic gold or silver colored are nice. Just heat up some chocolate (for dipping) and dip the end in it. After they dry, wrap the bottoms in plastic wrap and tie it with some ribbon. For an added touch, give them in a cheap Holiday mug.

You can also do this with candy canes. They look really nice with a sprinkle of peanuts in the chocolate before it melts.

Something that everyone loves is a picture frame. Buy some different kinds of pasta or just the bows and decorate a frame made from cardboard. You need quite thick glue but you can paint it and it looks lovely. If you are thinking of gifts for Christmas, a calender with your photo's on it would be great for family. You could include all the family celebrations on it including B'days and so on.
Everyone loves a handmade gift as it means so much more!

It depends on who you are making it for... magazine collages are cool... also you can take a shoe box, put wrapping paper (white side out) on it and make a collage on the box and the person can use it as a keepsake box and you can even add a few things inside of it... movie stubs and other things like that. Good luck! It's very thoughtful that you are making a gift for someone.... you could also try a homemade picture frame!

Marthastewart.com is the best spot to look for do it yourself projects. She has tons of creative ideas and wonderful ways of adding your own personal touch to a gift.

I guess it depends on the occasion for which you are giving the gift, but if you have photos on your computer and Microsoft Works you can create personalized calendars, cards, etc. If you have any new candles around, you can wrap some ribbon around it and attach a personalized To: From: tag.

I think it is called a pomander.
Take a large apple. Stick cloves into it until there is no room for any more. It can be put into a dresser drawer to keep a nice smell in there.
(The apple will mummify and not rot)

You could also make "gift certificates" to be reclaimed by you in exchange for sweeping and mopping, vacuuming the rugs, doing dishes, whatever.

Go to any craft store and check out the beading section. You can make beautiful bracelets for not a lot of money and personalize them for your friends.
