A true first edition of Jane Austen (her first published work, Sense and Sensibility was published in 1811) would be very valuable. I believe the book was published in three volumes though. If you have a one volume copy, it isnt the first edition -- you may just have a later edition stating the original publication or copyright date.

Below is one resource for learning about the value of first editions. I ran a search for Jane Austen first editions between 1810 - 1820. You can modify the search as you see fit.

There will be rare book dealers in your city who could help -- but as I dont know your city, you'll have to look them up yourself.

It's a fraud. Jane Austen's work was published anonymously in her lifetime, no JAs sorry.

take it to a local auction house, they will be able to authenticate it for you and value it if necessary.
